You want to mine bitcoin. But, how to start?
There are three main categories of bitcoin mining hardware, each more expensive and more powerful than the last. This article explains each of them, and talks about how to make them work.
By this stage, you will understand how bitcoin works, and what mining means. But we need to get from theory to practice. How can you set up a bitcoin miner and start generating some digital cash? The first thing you’re going to need to do is decide on your hardware, and there are two main things to think about when choosing it:
Hardware to mine bitcoin
To start bitcoin mining you will need a mining hardware. Earlier you could still have mined your computer’s CPU or your high-speed video processor card. Today it is no longer possible. Custom Bitcoin ASIC chips can offer up to 100x performance compared to older systems.
If you do not have proper equipment, you will probably be using more electricity than you would mine. That is why it is very important to have the most appropriate bitcoin mining hardware for mining that is specifically designed for this purpose. Many companies like Antminer offer excellent solutions for bitcoin mining.
Bitcoin Cloud mining services
Another option is to buy bitcoin cloud-based mining contracts. This greatly simplifies the process, but it also increases the risk because you can not control the actual physical hardware. Here are a few examples.
The services listed in this section are not recommendations! A huge amount of Bitcoin cloud-based mining fraud has happened recently.
Hashflare: Hashflare offers SHA-256 mining contracts for multiple coins, but automatic payments are still in BTC. Customers must purchase at least 10 GH / s.
Genesis: Genesis Mining is the largest Bitcoin cloud based mining provider. It offers three plans for reasonably prices. Zcash mining contracts are also available.
Hashing 24: Hashing24 has been involved in bitcoin mining since 2012. There are facilities in Iceland and Georgia. BitFury’s modern ASIC chips ensure maximum performance and efficiency.
Miner Gate
Hashnest: Runed by Bitmain, an Antminer line manufacturer. HashNest currently employs more than 600 Antminer S7s.
Bitcoin Cloud Mining: There is currently no Bitcoin Cloud Mining contract available.

Download the software
If you have the right hardware, you will need to download the special program for bitcoin mining. There are several programs, but the two most popular are CGminer and BFGminer.
If you prefer to use the graphical user interface, try EasyMiner, a one-click Windows / Linux / Android program.
Join a Bitcoin Mining Pool
When you’re ready for bitcoin mining, we recommend joining a Bitcoin mining community. Pools are groups of Bitcoin miners who work together to solve a block and participate in the reward. Without such a community, you may be mined for a year and you will not find a bitcoin either. It is much more convenient to share the job and reward with a larger group of miners. Here are some options:
P2pool is completely decentralized.
BitMinter
CK Pool
Eligius
Slush Pool
